Improving SERP Positions and Traffic for a Home Improvement Brand

Back in 2023, a home improvement brand needed to increase its organic traffic and visibility so customers could easily find it. However, getting traffic while ranking up the SERPs was bound to be a challenge, especially in the niche of Home improvement. The brand also wanted rankings locally, which meant a deviation from rankings for the global generic keywords. Yet, with optimized link building, we knew from the first day that we would be able to ensure a significant traffic increase and a visibility increase. 

 

The major challenge, however, was getting local rankings in the areas where the brand operated while making the necessary sacrifice of a mediocre fall in the number of keywords on the second page of the SERPs.

The Central Objective

We already anticipated the disruption that could occur as a result of Google updates. However, the real challenge was finding the right backlinks for the right pages, such that they increased the brand’s authority and trickled link juice. Moreover, the main focus of procuring backlinks was to get organic and relevant traffic to the client’s website. This is where things started getting interesting.

The Application

We knew that our client could achieve their objectives only if we procured high-quality, relevant links for them. Thus, our focus and priorities went in two separate directions:

  • Strategic Link Building

We knew that only websites that had a high authority, DA, and worked in the same niche as our client would qualify for our link prospects. So, we vetted a list of potential websites that not only checked all the boxes but also had a lot of organic traffic coming in. This meant that there was a high chance that people visiting our guest post would also be interested in clicking the backlink translating in to traffic for our client. 

  • Local Directories and Publications

The next approach was to get the brand listed in local directories and publications. These were the places where our client’s customers generally searched. Getting listed on these websites not only meant a relevant backlink but also made it easier for customers to find the brand. Thanks to the approach we were able to get the brand increased visibility in less than a year. 

The Results:

  • Although we only had a few months to build all 122 links that the client wanted, we managed to increase the brand’s keywords by 20% and 40% on the first page.
  • Moreover, even with the keyword numbers dropping a little on page 2, there was a visibility increase of 40% for the brand.
  • Finally, the organic traffic to the website almost doubled in less than a year! This was by far the biggest achievement for this client!
