Taking a Siding Contractor from the Sidelines to the Spotlight

In April 2023, a siding contractor in the Pacific Northwest approached us because their organic search presence was lagging. Their organic traffic was only 350 per month – not commensurate with their track record and high-quality services. The lack of sufficient appearances on the first and second page of organic search results for relevant keywords and competitive phrases meant they were missing out on valuable organic search traffic.

The owner of the siding company understood they needed a stronger online presence to remain relevant and expand their footprint, especially in the competitive exterior home remodeling and home improvement market in the Pacific Northwest.

We knew the best way to help our client rank better was to use engaging content to snag relevant and high-quality backlinks.

The Dilemma

The siding and home remodeling sectors in the area are saturated with competitors vying for a piece of the pie. This makes it challenging for contractors in the Pacific Northwest to rank for keywords like “external home improvement” or “leading siding contractor.” Another reason siding and remodeling businesses fail to rank on SERPs is that there’s often a gap between consumer search behavior and industry jargon, which can lead to misalignment in content strategy.
Search engines favor websites with fresh content. However, it is tricky for many siding contractors to generate new topics and ideas related to their core services. The result is stagnant content that does not engage users, fails to address user intent, or is not up to scratch from an SEO standpoint.
Our initial audit revealed these and other issues and our team didn’t waste any time identifying areas for improvement. We devised a robust link-building strategy to boost our client’s search engine rankings and drive more qualified traffic to their website.

Our Approach:

Our expertise in acquiring high-quality backlinks across various industries proved invaluable for the client. However, our team also looked at the bigger picture and considered other crucial SEO elements, including on-page optimization and technical SEO. Here are some of the key steps and aspects we focused on:

  • Link Audit

We performed a link audit to extract a complete list of backlinks pointing to the website. Knowing that irrelevant links can put a damper on SEO performance, we identified backlinks from low-authority sites and spammy domains.

  • Targeted Outreach

We identified authoritative websites in the external home improvement, construction, and regional business sectors that accept guest posts in exchange for backlinks. Our experts conducted targeted outreach to secure guest posting opportunities and other high-value link placements.

  • Content Creation

The next step was about ensuring quality content creation. Our team focused on compelling, informative content related to siding, roofing, window replacement, and other exterior remodeling topics. We optimized the content for relevant keywords and phrases and ensured natural and contextual link integration without compromising on the goal of providing genuine value to readers.

  • Strategic Link Placement

We prioritized acquiring backlinks from websites with high domain authority and relevance to the client’s industry, targeting sites with a DA above 50. Focusing on reputable industry blogs, home improvement magazines, and local news websites is how we ensured that the links carried significant weight and improved search rankings.

  • Data-Driven Optimization

Our experts continuously monitored the performance of the link-building efforts. Analyzing key metrics like domain authority, referring domains, keyword rankings, and organic traffic helped us make data-backed adjustments to maximize results. We never let communication fall by the wayside and provided regular progress reports to the client.

The Result

Our partnership with the siding contractor yielded significant improvements in their organic search performance.

  • A 28.71% jump in average organic traffic from January to December 2024 clearly shows our efforts paid off, despite numerous Google updates.
  • A 13.77% increase in branded organic traffic and a 35.87% increase in non-branded organic traffic signifies a substantial boost in both brand visibility and reach to a wider audience actively looking for siding services.
  • An 84.32% increase in informational keyword traffic means the siding contractor’s website is now ranking much better for searches where people are looking for information related to siding, roofing, windows, and other exterior remodeling topics.
  • Commercial keyword traffic has jumped by 65.41%. So, the contractor is probably ranking significantly higher for searches where potential customers are actively considering different siding options or comparing products.
  • Local keyword traffic is crucial for any siding contractor or home improvement business. Our efforts led to a 53.01% increase, meaning our client is now ranking better for location-based searches.
